Muy lindo el problema (llegué hasta acá buscando sobre él), pero creo que hay un error en la solución. Yo lo conocía distinto, con que se tenían que ir de la isla (matarse es un poco más fuerte) quienes descubrieran que su color de ojos era celeste. En cambio esta versión indica que debe matarse cualquiera que descubra el color de ojos propio. Esto quiere decir que al día 100, los habitantes con ojos marrones sabrán que no quedan más habitantes con ojos celestes (porque de otro modo habrían pasado más días hasta que los de ojos celestes descubrieran su color). Entonces, los 900 restantes se enteran de que tienen ojos marrones y se suicidan al día siguiente. Es decir, la declaración del forastero erradica en 101 días la población completa de la isla.
